Qualifications

Brenda D’Orazio, Registered Psychotherapist, Mental Health First Aid Facilitator, Public Speaker

As a graduate of the Ontario Psychotherapy and Counselling Program, a program with high standards of training and regulation, I too hold myself to these same standards as a Registered Psychotherapist. This 5-year training program, coupled with training in CBT and DBT, allows me to have a successful private practice offering individual, couple, and group therapy (both Interpersonal and DBT groups).

Also, my training with the Mental Health Commission of Canada to become a Mental Health First Aid Facilitator allows me the opportunity to work with individuals in facilitating the Mental Health First Aid certificate programs for individuals, workplaces, and community groups.

I believe compassion, honesty, and respect are integral to building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences.

I am always working to better understand identity, race, power, and privilege while striving to be culturally sensitive and equitable in my practice. With a non-judgmental and down-to-earth style, working with a trauma-informed and strength-based lens, I use individualized techniques from many therapies so you can learn how to develop healthier coping skills, build stronger bonds with individuals in your life, and move towards the happier life you deserve.

Lastly, I am proud of my educational roots as an educator and welcome the opportunity to speak to your group on various Mental Health topics. To date, topics have included: Mental Health Awareness, Women’s Mental Health (Mind over Meyham), Mental Health and the Aging, Grief and Loss, Mental Health in the Construction Industry Amidst an Opioid Crisis, and Mental Health in the Trades. Reach out to hear more about my talks or to discuss the needs of your group for a customized talk.
